The water bill arrives and the consumption is higher than normal. In looking at the bill you realize it's winter time, your water consumption is down, but the bill says it is up as if its summer when your water consumption is higher. Then it hits you drain line repair a water leak! At some point almost all homeowners run into this problem.
Turn off the water to the water line repair heater or if the valve is not working turn off the water to the house. If the valve is not working it will need to be replaced. In a future article we will discuss how to replace your valve.
If you need to add copper pipe make sure that you clean the old and new pipe by using sandpaper, inside and out. If it's not clean the solder will not flow into the joint. Another tip is to not over wrap the mail threaded pipe with tape, this can cause a leak. Twice around should be enough. Also, don't over tighten it.
Clean the hole in the gutter railing first. It must be free of any debris, so you may want to clean the entire drain channel using a proper cleaner. In this way, you will have a clean surface area which will allow you to repair the hole more easily.
As with anything, when you are not sure how to fix a plumbing issue and when you don't have the proper equipment, you should contact a professional. They can usually find out what the problem is and resolve it for you in a short period of time. They will also be able to tell you if you have any other problems and water line repair they can suggest resolutions.
For a newly installed icemaker, you will need up to 24 hours to let the machine function and cool down. A newly installed icemaker may not work until the ice mold temperature has dropped to about 15F - 16F degrees. If you have just added a water line to the refrigerator, it may take up to about an hour and a half for the machine to start working. Also, a newly installed water line may have air in the line. It can sometimes take a few ice making cycles to clear the line of air.
Be sure to choose a licensed glass shop in your area. There are a lot fly by night shops out there. You pay a lot of money for your vehicles so you want quality work at a fair price. Do the homework before you have this procedure done because proper preparation before installing a windshield will keep your car from having rust issues which may cause water leaks.
